Effect of different dietary protein sources on digestibility and growth performance parameters in lambs

Abstract Background The aim of this study is a comparison between some different protein sources in sheep rations to identify the best source that achieves highest production performance and lowest economical feed efficiency. Twenty Farafra male lambs weighed on average 41.39 ± 1.66 kg were divided randomly into four similar groups 5 animals each. All fed concentrate mixture (CFM) at 3% their body weight, wheat straw ad lib. replace 100% soybean meal (SBM) as protein, black cumin seed (BCSM), cottonseed (CSM) sesame (SSM) incorporated CFM. feeding trial extended for 66 days followed by digestibility nitrogen (N) balance trials. Results results indicated no difference total intake experimental groups. Digestibility crude ether extract fiber CSM ration was higher ( p < 0.05) than those other rations. On hand, recorded value digestible SBM BCSM Lambs gave containing daily weight gain compared with better conversion dry matter intake/kg Relative economic efficiency sources.
